University of Sioux Falls - MAKING THE UNIVERSITY OF SIOUX FALLS A SPECIAL PLACE
As a long term service provider to the University of Sioux Falls (USF), ARAMARK Higher Education partnered with the university in the construction of a new 60,000 square ft. student center. The student center has quickly become a gathering place for the campus community and has helped to make the campus a more special place for students, facility and staff.
THE COLLEGE OF SAINT ROSE - ARAMARK COMMISSIONING LEADS TO 1ST LEED CAMPUS BUILDING IN NY STATE
ARAMARK Higher Education has been a long term partner of the college as both the dining and facilities service provider. ARAMARK's comprehensive facilities services include custodial, grounds, maintenance, construction management and commissioning. After successfully completing the commissioning and renovation of Albertus Hall, the primary classroom building on campus, the college hired ARAMARK to commission the new Massry Center for the Arts. ARAMARK's commissioning lead to the distinction for the College of Saint Rose of being the first college campus in the state of New York to have a LEED-certified building.
Millikin University - INCREASED CURB APPEAL SUPPORTS STDUENT ENROLLMENT AND RETENTION
As Millikin's Facilities Management partner, ARAMARK invested in improving the curb appeal to strengthen the university's ability to attract and retain students. Specifically, ARAMARK focused on high impact areas including purchasing equipment, providing the necessary training and allocating additional labor. Simultaneously, ARAMARK minimized areas considered unattractive and labor intensive through the creative use of mulch and weed barriers. In addition, attractive plantings were added along the campus tour route to enhance the visitor experience. The campus has now become a source of pride to the campus community, which is reflected in the 96% satisfaction rating given to grounds maintenance from faculty, staff and students.
Northwest Missouri State University - ARAMARK CREDITED WITH SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO STUDENT SATISIFICATION
As the facilities service provider for Northwest Missouri State University, ARAMARK Higher Education has been a key partner in helping the institution achieve their goal of maintaining a successful residential based university. The quality and service provide by the ARAMARK's facilities services team has contributed significantly to the high student satisfaction levels at the university.
Baylor University - Modifying operations practices realizes significant savings for Baylor
Since 2000, Baylor University has reaped the benefits of one of higher education's most successful facilities management engagements. The university has leveraged its relationship with ARAMARK to support its "2012" vision of entering the top tier of American universities.
Baylor possesses one of the most successful energy management programs in the nation. By modifying operating practices, the university realized $460,000 in cash savings in the first 12 months and avoided $2.1 million in the program's first three years. ARAMARK conducted an electrical master plan that resulted in the installation of an electric substation to meet the university's needs for the next 50 years. The substation is responsible for saving Baylor annual electricity cost savings of $600,000. ARAMARK also initiated an industry-leading, award-winning electric procurement contract will reduced Baylor's energy cost by 35%, saving Baylor more than $20 million over the next 10 years. Finally, to maintain consumption reduction, an Energy Awareness Education Campaign has been implemented across campus.
In support of the Baylor 2012 initiative, the University expanded the campus by more than 1.5 million gross square feet. To ensure these new buildings use minimal capital and operating resources, ARAMARK served as the university's dedicated commissioning agent. Documented cost avoidance from these efforts are in excess of $2 million, with a return on investment of 45%.

Upper Canada College - Leveraging aramark expertise in dining and facilities operations
Canada's most prestigious preparatory boarding school for boys, Upper Canada College (UCC) , is located in the heart of Toronto. UCC values diversity and is actively engaged in building a school that reflects a variety of backgrounds. Since 2000, ARAMARK Higher Education has been UCC's foodservice provider and has been an active partner across campus.
In 2007, the College wanted to combine the dining and housekeeping services under one management company. UCC realized they could leverage synergies to improve efficiencies with their sister school, Bishop Strachan School (BSS), by sharing labor resources across the campuses. ARAMARK recognized the opportunity to minimize costs and improve overall service if they brought the housekeeping service in-house for both campuses. Later in 2007, UCC awarded ARAMARK the bundled services for both schools because of their long-standing relationship and superior customer service.
Upper Canada College's approach of leveraging synergies across the schools is unique among higher education institutions, however, has proven to be effective in reducing costs with significant improvements. ARAMARK Higher Education made the housekeeping services more efficient by increasing campus cleanliness and streamlining the management across two campuses to better support the custodial staff and needs of the clients. In addition to streamlining labor, ARAMARK also implemented the quad care program that leverages a "cross-functional" task team to clean a space, with designated experts. The quad care program has saved UCC approximately $60,000 annually with an additional $100,000 forecasted in the second year due to labor hour reduction.
Millikin University - Efficient management of energy reduces consumption by 27%
Millikin University has initiated an aggressive holiday energy curtailment program which reduces operating temperatures and processes in all campus buildings during all extended holiday breaks. The objectives of the program are to eliminate energy and financial waste associated with low usage of buildings, and to ensure that essential activities of the university are supported. When compared to normal campus operations, the energy consumption decreased by 27% during the holiday curtailment periods.
From a broader perspective, the overall campus-wide energy management program has reduced annual natural gas consumption by 14% and electricity by 4% over a four year period. The program has generated savings in excess of $808,000 and significantly lowered Millikin's environmental footprint.
Geneva College - ARAMARK designed Energy Performance Program resulted in over $500k in savings
On behalf of Geneva College, ARAMARK Higher Education designed an energy performance program to address immediate infrastructure needs and optimize operating procedures. ARAMARK Higher Education provided the capital required to replace outdated steam lines and address deferred maintenance and infrastructure repairs. Additionally, maintenance staff were properly trained on system operation. This program has resulted in over $560,000 in savings achieved to date. The corresponding energy management program included the initiation of a major holiday curtailment program and training of staff on shutdown procedures. Overall the energy program has reduced fossil fuel consumption and water consumption by 18% and 11% respectively.
Franklin & Marshall College - Project management expertise hired to deliver newest campus showpiece
The Barshinger Life Sciences and Philosophy building is the newest addition to enhance Franklin and Marshall's existing strength in the sciences. The college entrusted ARAMARK Higher Education to bring this 104,000 gross square foot showpiece to fruition. Services on this project include leading the programming effort, design team selection, managing all consultants, establishing and tracking budgets and schedules, working with local code officials to obtain permits, bidding and negotiating construction management contracts, soliciting and coordinating interior design and furnishings, and coordinating all aspects of construction, closeout, occupancy, and relocation.
Northwest Missouri State University - Recycling efforts leads to top 10 winner for three consecutive years
Northwest Missouri State University has a long history of environmental stewardship that began with the conversion to alternative fuels in the early 1980s, a move that has saved the university more than $9 million. Under ARAMARK Higher Education's encouragement and guidance, Northwest is now an active participant in the national Recylclemania™ competition, and has placed in the Top 10 for three consecutive years. Additionally under ARAMARK Higher Education's guidance, a food and clothing drive is conducted during finals week to recycle items otherwise discarded at the end of the school year. Collected items are donated to local charities.
Grace College - Creative solutions to retain staff, protect service levels and save money
Historically, ARAMARK and Grace College have had a unique partnership, with ARAMARK managers directing Grace's dedicated custodial staff. However, as a result of the challenging economic environment facing all higher education, the College sought to create a facilities operating environment that provided greater opportunities for student employment, without sacrificing service quality. This approach was consistent the unique mission of Grace, which places value on student employment as part of their overall education.
To achieve this goal, ARAMARK, the College's facilities management partner, worked together with Grace College to create an innovative solution. ARAMARK developed a comprehensive analysis highlighting the economic and programmatic benefits of various operational models. Key operational personnel with the right experience and institutional knowledge to lead were identified. Because of this unique partnership and analysis, all of Grace College's facilities organization were successfully migrated to ARAMARK's payroll. More importantly, ARAMARK's model achieved $100 thousand in annual savings for reinvestment in student employment, meeting Grace's desired goal of providing greater employment opportunities to students.
Baylor University - SAFETY TRAINING CONTRIBUTES TO 40% REDUCTION IN EMPLOYEE ACCIDENTS

Investment has been made in Baylor's loyal and dedicated staff. An extensive professional development training program continues to keep staff abreast of the latest trends and techniques in facility operation. During ARAMARK's tenure, Baylor Facility Services has promoted almost 60% of the managerial staff and has implemented an employee appreciation program to recognize outstanding performance. ARAMARK Higher Education also introduced an employee safety training program that contributed to a 40% reduction in employee accidents. The success of the program was evidenced by a University record five-year accident free from 2003-2008.

Milliken University - Delivered on the promise to treat employees with utmost respect
Millikin University, a distinctive Midwestern institution with approximately 2,500 students, conducted a search for a facilities management partner that would value the well being of the University's existing facility staff. Millikin found that partner in ARAMARK and signed a contract for Custodial, Grounds, Maintenance, Energy Management and Construction Management services. ARAMARK created a labor transition plan that was respectful of and sensitive to employee concerns of transitioning to an outside employer. Even five years after the original contract was awarded, 100% of the maintenance staff has remained and almost 20% of all ARAMARK employees at Millikin have been promoted.

In order to elevate the cleaning standards around the college, UCC sought to partner with ARAMARK Higher Education for facilities because of their unique and innovative approach to delivering custodial services. The quality of housekeeping standards were brought to a whole new level once the new contract commenced in 2007. Under the new contract, ARAMARK Higher Education welcomed 20 new employees from the existing staff; 70% of whom still remain today.
Millikin University - Partnering to raise environmental awareness
ARAMARK Higher Education co-chairs the Millikin Sustainability Committee, whose goal is to raise environmental awareness and provide the campus community with information on its sustainable initiatives. For example, solar energy panels are being installed on one of the residential buildings in conjunction with a grant that was received by the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation. ARAMARK Higher Education was responsible for introducing the campus to RecycleManiaâ„¢, a national program that encourages a campus-wide recycling program. Finally, ARAMARK Higher Education also introduced an IMP (Integrated Pest Management) process that greatly enhances pest control management while minimizing the use of harmful products.

The mission of the university is to achieve a top-tier distinction among America's leading higher education institutions by providing their students with a exceptional education.
Baylor University chose ARAMARK Higher Education as their facilities provider to partner with them in accomplishing the Baylor 2012 initiative, a 10-year plan to obtain national distinction. This initiative included a vigorous expansion of the campus along with improvements and upgrades to the facilities. ARAMARK was selected to commission the project due to their expertise and follow through on ensuring the end result was a success.
University of Pittsburgh - ARAMARK manages $500 million capital expansion project
In the midst of a $500 million capital expansion program, the University of Pittsburgh engaged ARAMARK commissioning services to protect its new investment. To date, over 837,000 square feet of new space has been commissioned, including the 325,000 square foot Biomedical Science Tower, the 420,000 square foot Peterson Events Center, and a new 600,000 lb./hour steam plant.
ARAMARK developed operating protocols, safety programs, performance reports, as well as provided project management of the new steam plant to ensure proper operation. The design review and commissioning processes resulted in substantial documented capital cost avoidance and improved operations.
Millikin University - Planning and oversight responsiblitly leads to qualified Leed® certified facility
Over the last four years, ARAMARK Higher Education's capital project management program has been responsible for the planning and oversight of more than $16 million of capital project work including the conversion of a 1950's era science building that was no longer in use. Millikin asked ARAMARK Higher Education to manage the $6 million capitalization and modernization of the former science building into a new business school. The facility now qualifies as a candidate for LEED® certification by the U.S. Green Building Counsel.
