National Association of College and University Food Services 2012 Loyal E. Horton Dining Award Gold Winner: Residential Dining Special Event, Medium School (University of North Carolina – Wilmington)
Named for a NACUFS founder, past president and highly regarded innovator, the Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards celebrate exemplary menus, presentations, special event planning, and new dining concepts, and provide an avenue for sharing ideas and creative presentations in campus dining services. The University of North Carolina- Wilmington, an ARAMARK account, was recognition for their New Orleans themed lunch event that featured traditional bayou food, music and festivities. The lunch was created to help build awareness and promote the University's Synergy Common Reading Group's book of the month, a novel about New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina.
National Association of College and University Food Services 2012 Loyal E. Horton Dining Award Bronze Winner: Retail Sales—Multiple Concepts/Marketplace, Large School (Virginia Commonwealth University)
Named for a NACUFS founder, past president and highly regarded innovator, the Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards celebrate exemplary menus, presentations, special event planning, and new dining concepts, and provide an avenue for sharing ideas and creative presentations in campus dining services. Virginia Commonwealth University received the Bronze Award for their Multiple Concepts/Marketplace among Large Colleges and Universities. Criteria for the award include iimaginative, creative and unique concepts, facility design, effective use of space as well as effectiveness of marketing efforts, special and more.
National Association of College and University Food Services 2012 C-Store "Best in the Business" Award: Retail Loss Prevention Best Practices (Bits N Bytes C3 at Boise State University)
Recognizing leadership in product mix, marketing, layout, design and great new ideas, the National Association of College & University Food Services C-Store Best in the Business competition provides an opportunity for college and university campuses to share stories of their latest improvements and highlight their retail and convenience store best practices. Boise State University, an ARAMARK partner, was selected for their innovative solutions to inventory control at their on campus convenience store.
City of Boston’s Annual Mayor’s Green Awards 2012 Sustainable Food Leader (Boston University)
Boston University Dining Services, an ARAMARK account since 1976, has been recognized by the City of Boston as a 2012 Sustainable Food Leader for its efforts to provide the freshest, local food in the most sustainable manner. The award commended BU Dining Services for committing 23% of their annual food budget towards the purchase of items from local farms and producers within a 250-mile radius. BU Dining Services also composts at 19 of their 22 facilities on campus.
2011 College Foodservice Excellence Award Winner: Brent Beringer
Brent Beringer, Resident District Manager at the University of Virginia, received the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS) College Foodservice Excellence Award. Presented at the association’s recent national meeting, the award recognizes the outstanding contributions and accomplishments of a foodservice provider who has gone above and beyond to greatly improve the dining experience on their campuses or in the industry in general. Men's Fitness Magazine Names Fittest Colleges
ARAMARK is pleased to announce that six of its client partners have been ranked among the nation’s 25 fittest colleges, according to Men’s Fitness. Included on the list are: University of Alabama, Florida State University, University of Delaware, University of Florida, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and the University of Minnesota. Through ARAMARK’s CampusDish portal, students have access to a variety of healthy resources that promote nutrition and fitness, including an online tool that provides nutritional information, as well as the Just4U program which disseminates healthy eating tips, tools and recipes. 2011 Princeton Review Names Top 20 Colleges with Best Campus Food
ARAMARK Higher Education is pleased to announce that three of its clients have ranked among the top 20 colleges in the nation with the best campus food. Based on the 2011 survey results of over 122,000 students at 376 schools, the Princeton Review has named James Madison University as the #5 college with the best tasting food. The University of Scranton ranked at #12 and Boston University was named #13. Read More
